When most translators think of translation memory or terminology databases. But what about monolingual reference texts in the target language?. There are three common situations where monolingal references will be provided or will prove useful: 1.When translating academic articles or reports containing a bibliography. 2.When translating marketing material or manuals for a client who provides you with similar material to consult in order to maintain consistent terminology. 3.When translating legistation, where terminonogy must be consistent with prior laws.
