Resumen: South Korea is the first country where the translation education has operated at a postgraduate level in Asia. The first graduate school, the Graduate School of Interpretation and Translation, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, operated at 1979. As of 2006, there are ten translation andJor interpreting departrnents at graduate level in South Korea. The curriculum of translation graduate schools in South Korea should be examined from a theoretical standpoint. This article is the answer of what constitutes a translation graduate school in South Korea in terms of its title, its cornmencement date, type of school, division of departnents, admission requirements, and the duration of the programme and what is an appropriate curriculum for a translation graduate school in South Korea. For this study, I have conducted interviews with heads of translation departments at South Korea's graduate schools in the first place, with a view'to establish the real situation of graduate schools that teach translation in South Korea. I adopted Renfer's model for analysing the programme of the graduate schools. Renfer (1991) presents four basic programme models of translator and/or interpreter education training for western countries such as Two-tier system, Parallel translator and interpreter training model, y model, and Postgraduate interpreter training or intensive on-the-job training in international organisations. The results of the data analysis are discussed, and lastly suggestions for translation students to develop and improve their translation skills are presented.

Resumen: La Teoría de la Traducción es un campo de estudios complejo, actualmente amplio y de abordaje complejo -por el nivel de abstracción que requiere- especialmente para estudiantes que inician la carrera de grado de Traductorados. Teniendo a cargo esta materia en el Traductorado Público de Portugués, dictada en primer año, de la Universidad Nacional de Rosario, desde el año académico 2007, en todas las cohortes hemos podido constatar que los estudiantes tienen dificultades en cuanto a la retención, interrelación, aplicación y extensión de los distintos aspectos de los varios abordajes teóricos y los conceptos y categorías de los autores seleccionados, a las que se suma un conjunto de representaciones sociales con las que los estudiantes resuelven inicialmente su vocación y que es necesario desarticular para que puedan construir bases teóricas sólidas y puedan afrontar con criterio traductológico las materias de traducción.

Resumen: Esta obra se considera de gran utilidad para todo aquel alumno que una vez terminados sus estudios de Enseñanza Secundaria pretende dedicarse a la profesión de traductor y/o intérprete, en el que el adecuado aprendizaje de una segunda lengua extranjera es de vital importancia. Como plantean las distintas Universidades españolas en sus Planes de Estudio la enseñanza de una segunda lengua extranjera, qué materiales para su fomento y descripciones de contenidos engloban, qué resultados se obtienen con los distintos enfoques y ordenación docente, y qué demanda el mercado laboral. Mediante el análisis de un caso concreto en el caso del alemán en el que se comprueban y analizan los resultados de los distintos planteamientos para, finalmente, contrastarse todo aquello con las necesidades del mercado laboral y la importancia de la lengua extranjera en el proceso traslativo.

Resumen: El CTPCBA estuvo presente en un encuentro internacional realizado en Kyoto, Japón, donde tuvo contacto con la realidad del traductor japonés. Las notables diferencias culturales no ocultan, sin embargo, similares problemáticas laborales. Resumen: The biblical story of Babel has long reserved as a powerful image for translators in western civilization, stimulating much productive discourse about translation history, mythology, theory and practice. It is therefore interesting to note that the biblical story itself, despite its apparent antoquity and remarkable brevity, has been strongly influenced by even earlier sources stemming from societies antedating its ancient Israelite authors. The article examines some of the most interesting examples of cross-cultural and intertextual references from ancient proverbs and writings including well-know works such as the Gilgamesh epic and the Babylonian creation epic, Enuma Elis.The delightfully subtle translingual wordplay in the name "Babel" is also clarified. The biblical tower of babel reveals a starling complexity resulting from the wealth of intercultural and multilingual contacts that constitute the distant foundation of western tradition.
