Resumen: Invitado por la Universidad de Siena, Noam Chomsky pasó el mes de noviembre de 1999 en la Certosa di Pontignano, un monasterio del siglo XIV convertido ahora en complejo de investigación de la universidad. Los textos recogidos en este volúmen están relacionados con las actividades organizadas en relación con esta visita. El primer capítulo proporciona una introducción a conceptos básicos de la teoría del lenguaje y a elementos de la historia de este campo. El segundo capítulo hace referencia a la Conferencia Galileo titulada "Perspectivas sobre el lenguaje y la mente". El tercer capítulo se centra en la relación entre el estudio del lenguaje y las ciencias que se ocupan del cerebro; analiza en particular las perspectivas de integración y unificación de los modelos computacionales abstractos, desarrollados por las ciencias cognitivas, con el estudio del sustrato físico del lenguaje y la cognición del cerebro. El cuarto capítulo presenta, en forma de entrevista, un análisis de las raíces históricas, los conceptos y las ramificaciones del Programa Minimista. Resumen: This volume contains the texts of each of the agreements reached at the conclusion of the <Uruguay Round> in December 1993. It also contains the related decisions taken at the same time and those taken later at the <Ministerial Meeting in Marrakesh> in April 1994. The Final Act of the Uruguay Round and the Marrakesh Agreement Establishing the <World Trade Organization> (the <WTO> Agreement) were signed at the Marrakesh Ministerial Meeting. In addition, some delegations signed one or more of the four plurilateral agreements referred to in Annex 4 of the WTO Agreement. The WTO Agreement includes the "General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994". This instrument, known as "<GATT 1994>", is based upon the text of the original General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade referred to as "<GATT 1947>". The text of "GATT 1947" as subsequently amended by decision of the GATT CONTRACTING PARTIES is included for reference at the end of this volume.
