Resumen: La denominación de graveyard school o graveyard poetry, conocida en el resto de Europa por poesía de los cementerios o de las tumbas, engloba a un grupo de poetas y a algún que otro prosista, que desarrollan su producción literaria en la Inglaterra del siglo XVIII, siendo sus temas principales los ya tradicionales de la muerte y la religión, a los que ellos añaden tintes y matices melancólicos. La obra Westminster Abbey debe ser considerado un poema perteneciente a la graveyard school y que, consecuentemente, sería el poema que marcaría el nacimiento de esta escuela como algo más o menos consolidado; una escuela de suma importancia para la literatura, pues con ella no sólo se inicia el estilo introspectivo en el que posteriormente desembocará en el romanticismo, sino que también se sientan las bases del futuro horror gótico.

Resumen: El siglo XVI en Inglaterra fue una época de controversias, originadas principalmente por el problema religioso. La variación del dogma causaba discrepancias que reflejaban la situación social existente, lo cual era visible en la Iglesia anglicana internamente dividida. Las divergencias religiosas y la ruptura con el dogma romano en lugar de provocar la desaparición de la literatura religiosa de signo contrario, sorprendentemente, originaron un extraordinario aumento de las ediciones y traducciones de literatura y tratados religiosos.

Resumen: En tanto el tema de este V Congreso Latinoamericano de Traducción e Interpretación es "Traducir Culturas, un desafío bicentenario", este trabajo abordará el fenómeno del lenguaje estilo llano o ciudadano, denominado también Plain Language, como herramienta de comunicación global en el ámbito jurídico. Asimismo, intentará analizar el rol del traductor en tanto es un mediador intercultural y un posible difusor y usuario de este estilo. También analizará las consecuencias derivadas del auge de Internet como vehículo de comunicación, su impacto en el discurso y el surgimiento del estilo llano. Intentará un abordaje de los desafíos que enfrenta el traductor a la hora de comunicar efectivamente. Se propondrá una categorización de las tendencias de aplicación del estilo llano o "Plain" en distintas áreas relacionadas con el ámbito jurídico (sector privado, esfera gubernamental, poder judicial) y un análisis de las tendencias y la normativa existentes, necesarias para que el traductor tome decisiones informadas relativas al estilo, que tienen un impacto directo en el campo semántico.
