Resumen: This publication contains the word of translators, interpreters, terminologists, and other professionals giving presentatrions at the XIX World Congress in San Francisco, California on August 1-4, 2011. The theme of the Congress, "Bridging Cultures", reflects the international nature of the event and highlights the fact that FIT member associations build bridges between cultures and facilitate communication that creates cultural enrichment.

Resumen: It is the first time that legal translators of different countries meet in Poland. The term legal translators is broadly understood here as meaning translators and interpreters dealing with legal texts, either in form or in contents, wich cover a wide range of human activities.

Resumen: En el IV Centenario de la publicación del Quijote y en el marco de la Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, los editores han considerado dedicar esta obra, que reúne los trabajos presentados en el IV Simposio Internacional Traducción, Texto e Interferencias, al español, entendido como lengua de transmisión de culturas a escala internacional y como lengua vehicular de un volumen ingente de traducciones a lo largo de la historia. El resultado ha sido satisfactorio a juzgar por las 55 contribuciones que componen esta monografía y que proceden de autores de más de veinte universidades españolas y extranjeras. La obra está dividida en secciones que comprenden, entre otros, los siguientes temas: Traducción literaria; Teoría e historia de la traducción; Traducción jurídica y económica; Traducción científica y Recursos bibliográficos sobre teoría y práctica de la traducción e interpretación

Resumen: "Cette année, le séminaire de l' Association suisse des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes aborde un thème plus précis que ceux des années précédentes, mais un thème d'une grande importance pour la practique de notre métier, susceptible de s' infiltrer dans presque tous les domaines de spécialité des traducteurs professionnels (...) La présence de quelque 180 professionnels á cette journée de travail est une preuve éclatante de l' importance accordée à la traduction juridique par la commmunauté traduisante helvétique et est aussi le reflet de prépccupations qu' on retrouve ailleurs en Europe: en effet, l' ASTTI n' est pas la seule organisation professionnelle a en avoir fait un théme de réflexion en 1998...."

Resumen: With over 200 contributions by authors from some 50 countries in the form of lectures, panel discussions, poster presentations and seminars, the content of the XXth FIT World Congress reflects the full range of development of the globalized language profession. It covers a wide area, from high-tech topics related to day-to-day work such as post-editing of machine translations or working in the cloud, through quality assurance standards to various aspects of the qualities required for the job. Presentations on aspects of daily work, didactic models and case studies illustrate the global professional reality of translators, interpreters and terminologists in the second decade of the 21st century and suggest approaches to the problems of tomorrow. What will the work of translators, interpreters and terminologists look like in future? What challenges will they have to face? How will national markets and the international market for these services change? These volumes, which contain most of the presentations from the XXth FIT World Congress, document a host of interesting responses and provide material for a range of further discussions.
