Resumen: This Scholary Monograph Series, published by the American Translators Association under the General EDitorship of Marilyn Gaddis Rose, is a project of more tha usual interest...A glance at the table of contents of "Translation and the law" suggest thah easily half of the papaers may be attributed to this, the rest having arisen directly out of ATA activities and, in a single case, the ever-so-gentle arm-twisting of the editor. What this suggest is that "TRanslation and Law " speacks to concerns felt in the broad translation and interpreting community itself rather than those of this particular editor. THe paper came in, one by one, "over the transom", as magazine publishers used to say of unsolicited manuscripts, back when there were such things as transsoms....THat is just as well. The possibility of twisting arms over such distances as those which separate the contibutors to this volume is nil. Proof of that are the several interesting papers still to be had in, "at least", Argentina, México, the United Kingdom and Hong KOng, but also in New York City, Washington, DC, and Texas...

Resumen: This volume contains the fruits a pilot experiment that took place in Salamanca from February 25-29, 2008. This pages that follow are the result of co-operation between the University of Salamanca and IAMLADP, the International Annual Meeting of Language Arrangements, Documentation and Publications. It was the brainchild of a group of members of the Universities Contact Group (UCG), part of the Working Group on Training (WGT), a branch of IAMLADP, a UN-based forum for Heads of Language and Conference Services of International Organisations, set up some thirty years ago.

Resumen: Este trabajo se deriva del proyecto de investigación "Diseño de un tipologizador textual para la traducción automática de textos jurídicos (español/inglés/alemán/italiano/árabe)". El objetivo de dicho proyecto de investigación fue el diseño y posterior implementación de una herramienta informática capaz de generar automáticamente un determinado tipo de texto jurídico en español, inglés, alemán, italiano y árabe. Concretamente, se centró en el contrato de compraventa de bienes inmuebles, para el cual se ha elaborado una interlengua a partir de conceptos jurídicos en forma de gramática lógica subyacente y orientada hacia la creación de un generador automático multilingüe. Los capítulos de este libro son el fruto de las investigaciones realizadas en el seno del proyecto, sobre todo en lo que se refiere al establecimiento de prototipos textuales.

Resumen: Este volumen pretende hacerse eco sobre algunas líneas de investigación que se están desarrollando actualmente en el panorama internacional. Las contribuciones que incluye han sido elaboradas por jóvenes investigadores, que se están haciendo hueco con sus novedosas ideas en este ámbito. Se trata de un total de diez capítulos que sirven como muestra de la gran variedad de estudios que se están elaborando en torno a la Traducción y la Interpretación en los últimos años tanto dentro como fuera de nuestras fronteras. Estas investigaciones que aquí se presentan y muchas otras avanzan cada día vertiginosamente y se multiplican, por lo que este volumen se espera que sea el primero de otros muchos que recojan nuevas colecciones de investigaciones traductológicas emergentes.

Resumen: Con esta obra, la autora pretende introducir al traductor en la traducción especializada inglés-español de textos jurídicos y administrativos. Su finalidad última es ayudar a los traductores, o a los aprendices de traducción, a enfrentar la traducción de textos pertenecientes al campo temático del derecho respetando las convenciones de los géneros jurídicos y aplicando las estrategias y técnicas apropiadas para cada encargo de traducción. Para conseguir este objetivo en este manual se abordan tres grandes áreas formativas: (1) la adquisición de conocimientos sobre traducción jurídica y derecho; (2) la adquisición de habilidades prácticas en documentación, uso de nuevas tecnologías y redacción y revisión de traducciones; y (3) el desarrollo de actitudes y valores éticos relacionados con la socialización profesional de los traductores jurídicos y jurados.
