Resumen: Durante años se sostuvo que el traductor debía ser "invisible", y que una buena traducción debía sonar natural y no contener errores de sentido para que el lector no se percatase de que en realidad se trataba de una traducción y no de un texto original. Los profesores de traducción enseñamos a nuestros alumnos qué cosas tornan visible al traductor y cómo pueden arruinar el resultado de su tarea. Esta presentación tratará algunos errores que llevan a que el traductor pierda su invisibilidad. Pero también tratará el concepto contrario, el de la visibilidad del traductor. En la actualidad, muchos sostienen que el traductor debe ser visible. Ese concepto, más moderno que el opuesto, controvertido y a veces relacionado con ciertas corrientes relativamente nuevas como la traducción según el género (o gender translation), puede convertirse en un arma de doble filo, ya que puede resultar muy positivo (como en el caso de la defensa de los derechos de autor) o sumamente negativo (como sucede con los excesos de notas al pie de página, por ejemplo).

Resumen: This article aims to describe how written translations of audiovisual products change along the dubbing process until they reach the audience, focusing mainly on the synchronisation stage. The corpus is made up of the first reel of the Catalan and Spanish translations of three different films released in 2006 (Casino Royale, Good night, and good luck, and The Da Vinci Code). After a brief summary of the dubbing process and a short overview of the approaches to synchronisation found in the literature, the specific strategies found in a bottom-up analysis are highlighted, offering both a wide analysis of the general changes throughout the process and a closer analysis of the specific changes that occur in the synchronisation stage. A comparison of the strategies found in Catalan and Spanish is also included in order to assess whether different languages result in different strategies.

Resumen: It is frequently said that humor does not travel well, and wordplay, which is inseparably connected to humor, poses particular problems for the translator as it is intrinsically linked to the source language and culture, and consequently is often described as untranslatable. The translator's task is further complicated when instances of wordplay are encountered in audiovisual texts due to the constrained and semiotic nature of the medium. The aim of this paper is to examine the translation strategies applied to wordplay in the English subtitles of the French film Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis [Boon 2008]. To do this, instances of wordplay in the source text and the target text were classified according to the typology of wordplay as proposed by Delabastita (1996), and subsequently analyzed using the General Theory of Verbal Humor (GTVH) (Attardo and Raskin 1991) in order to contrast the differences between source text and target text instances of wordplay. The findings show the trends in the application of translation strategies and demonstrate that GTVH, albeit with some modifications, is a useful analytical tool in the context of audiovisual translation in that it could show how the puns evolved in translation and therefore give a better understanding of wordplay to aid the choice of translation strategy. As long as a narrow view of equivalence is avoided, this study demonstrates that the translation of wordplay is possible even within the polysemiotic structures of audiovisual texts.

Resumen: La Universidad de Córdoba ha editado la obra "Traducción y Modernidad. Textos científicos, jurídicos, económicos y audiovisuales" de la que son coordinadores R. López Campos Bodineau, C. Balbuena Torezano y M. Alvarez Jurado. Se trata de un conjunto de 31 trabajos en los que se abordan, desde diferentes ópticas, la problemática que plantea la traducción científico- técnica, la jurídico-económica y la audiovisual, además de un último grupo de consideraciones de carácter metodológico, lexicológico y didáctico. Cuestiones como la traducción en el ámbito médico o la proliferación de anglicismos en los textos franceses y españoles de comunicaciones, la traducción institucional en la UE o en el Parlamento Europeo, el diálogo audiovisual en la traducción para el doblaje, la evaluación de traducciones, el contexto en la traducción o la Traducción Literaria en el Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior son algunos ejemplos de las materias tratadas en la obra.

Resumen: In translation studies, investigating translations beyond the implications, realities and difficulties of single texts and single language combinations, viewing the larger picture surrounding translations and following the translations through to the impacts they produce wherever they are received, is an integral part of the discipline. The study discussed in this article is an effort to present food for thought for audio-visual translators of soap operas. Turkish soap operas have been aired in 90 countries around the world, reaching over 400 million viewers, according to 2014 statistics from the sector. The aim of the study is to indicate the type of translated soap operas preferred in different regions of the world; to explain, on the basis of feedback from experts, the public and local and international media, why these are watched; and to investigate the translation modes and strategies used to market the translations successfully in the receiver markets

Resumen: Este trabajo discute el ajuste en la traducción audiovisual desde el punto de vista de los procedimientos utilizados. Considera la reducción del original, su expansión y la omisión como aspectos diferentes de una misma técnica: la alteración de la longitud/duración de los diálogos originales. Se describen diferentes instrumentos a disposición del traductor audiovisual para la alteración y también procedimientos para paliar sus efectos negativos. También se describen las diferentes velocidades que en cada caso sirven de referencia al traductor para el ajuste: la de lectura mental del espectador y la de interpretación de los actores, velocidades que no se corresponden habitualmente con las propias del traductor. Finalmente, se propone la adquisición de habilidades de ajuste como parte del bagaje del traductor, dada la creciente importancia de esta técnica, su efecto positivo sobre las habilidades generales de expresión y su presencia en otras modalidades de traducción, como son la interpretación consecutiva, la interpretación simultánea, la localización de productos informáticos y la traducción de canciones.

Resumen: Introducing translation studies is an introductory textbook providing an accessible overview of the key contributions to translation studies. Munday explores each theory chapter by chapter and tests the different approaches by applying them to texts. The texts discussed are taken from a broad range of languages - English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Punjahi, Portuguese and Spanish - and English translations are provided. Resumen: The relationship between texts and images in comics is essential from the graphic point of view and for the understanding of the story. Hence, the translation of comics has certain peculiarities that other literature genres do not have, partly due to its combination of iconic language and literary language. Among the wide array of interesting topics within this field, we are going to focus on a great challenge for translators: the graphic and phonetic values of the sounds in comics. Technical advances have improved comic books translation: nowadays modifying an element of the vignette no longer involves redrawing the whole animation. Thus, the translation of this literature genre can now focus on other problematic issues, such as the translation of sounds. Taking into account the lack of categorization of these sounds, this article deals with the translation of inarticulate sounds, interjections and onomatopoeias from English comic books into Spanish in order to observe the existing trends in these issues and to confirm if the new technologies have changed the translators' task in the last 25 years.
