Resumen: This book deals with the history and the collective memory of a group of professionals work in the most universal organisation of the international political system. Combining the reflections of the historian and the interpreter, the research is based on original documents, the press and oral testimonies. Resumen: La falta o carencia de información en lo concerniente al rol del intérprete se debe, en gran medida, a la distorsionada idea que se tiene de la tarea de interpretar y de lo que significa traducir. La interpretación de conferencias y la traducción son dos profesiones liberales cuya práctica no tiene nada que ver ni con la enseñanza de idiomas ni con el bilingüismo o el dominio de las lenguas. El objeto de esta obra es brindar una introducción sobre las condiciones y las exigencias que se requieren para formarse en esta profesión, y ofrecer a docentes, formadores y alumnos una base y guía para facilitar su estudio.
