Resumen: La interpretación se centra en las ideas expresadas oralmente y apunta a la comunicación integral del significado. El intérprete, mediador entre el hablante y el oyente, realiza simultáneamente dos funciones independientes entre sí, hablar y comprender. Dentro de los diversos factores que intervienen en el proceso de comprensión y transmisión del mensaje oral, merecen destacarse el conocimiento competente de L1 y de L2, la capacidad innata o entrenada para la captación inmediata de la información y, fundamentalmente, el conocimiento extralingüístico. En su tarea profesional, el intérprete está comprometido en un proceso continuo de solución de problemas y toma de decisiones y cuanto mayor sea su bagaje de conocimientos previos, más automático será este proceso. La memoria inmediata permite segmentar el mensaje oral en unidades de sentido que se pueden recordar en forma inmediata, mientras que la permanente posibilita la recuperación de información almacenada en la mente. De ahí que la memoria, junto con la comprensión y el conocimiento previo constituyen aspectos inseparables a tener en cuenta en el entrenamiento de un buen intérprete.

Resumen: This groundbreaking study explores Simultaneous Conference Interpreting (SI) by focusing on interpreters as professionals working in socio-cultural contexts and on the interdependency between these contexts and actual SI behavior. While previous research on SI has been dominated by cognitive and psycholinguistic approaches, Diriker's work explores SI in relation to the broader and more immediate socio-cultural contexts by investigating the representation of the profession(al) in the meta-discourse and by exploring the presence of interpreters and the nature of the interpreted utterance at an actual conference. Making use of participant observations, interviews and analysis of conference transcripts, Diriker challenges some of the widely held assumptions about SI. She suggests that the interpreter's delivery represents not only the speaker but a multiplicity of speaker-positions, and that this multiplicity may well be a source of tension or vulnerability, as well as strength, for interpreters. Her analysis also highlights how interpreters negotiate meaning in SI, and underscores the need for more concerted efforts to explore SI in authentic contexts.

Resumen: Interpreting, the human activity of translating oral discourse between two languages, has existed since times immemorial. As a professional activity per se, however, it is less than a century old. It dates back to the end of World War I, at the Paris conferences held in 1918, which resulted in the Treaty of Versailles and the establishment of the League of Nations. The first professional interpreters were all self-taught, but with the development of the profession and the advent of more international meetings, interpreter training began to be considered an important activity to prepare future interpreters better and faster. The first school dedicated exclusively to the training of interpreters was founded in Geneva, in 1941, by Antoine Velleman, an interpreter at the League of Nations (BOWEN e BOWEN, 1984). Many other appeared in the following decades.

El objetivo de la presente nota es compartir con los colegas lo adquirido a lo largo del tiempo de estudio y de práctica. En efecto, dicho curso consistió básicamente en una práctica intensiva de interpretación más la transmisión de las herramientas necesarias para desempeñarse óptimamente en dicho campo.

Resumen: Au début de la crise sanitaire, le 17 mars 2020, l’État belge décide de rendre accessibles à la communauté des Sourds1 les conférences de presse sur l’évolution de la situation épidémiologique liée au SRAS-CoV-2 (Covid-19). Le dispositif mis en place s’appelle la co-interprétation, processus spécifique d’interprétation simultanée réalisée par un interprète entendant « pivot » et un interprète sourd « relais ». Cette technique vise à la production d’une interprétation au plus proche d’une langue naturelle. C’est la première fois que, d’une part, ce dispositif est utilisé dans les médias belges et que, d’autre part, deux équipes travaillent consécutivement à fournir de l’interprétation en langue des signes de Belgique francophone et en langue des signes flamande. Cette pratique, bien que largement répandue aux États-Unis et au Canada, fait ses premiers pas en Europe. Nous souhaitons, par ce partage d’expérience, promouvoir son développement dans divers domaines. Nous vous proposons ici, après une mise en contexte, un récit de l’instauration de cette technique d’interprétation agrémenté de liens vers divers modèles théoriques de l’interprétation ainsi que des réflexions basées sur la pratique.

Resumen: Interpreters have always existed; interpreting has even been called the second oldest profession in the world. Conference interpreting however is a more recent development. It is generally considered that it started towards the end of the First World War. For centuries, french (and before it latin) had been the language of international diplomacy. However, during the negotiations of The Treaty of Versailles, british, and more importantly, american statesmen who didn't speak french, demanded that there be two official languages, french and english. ANd interpreters no longer simply provide one-to-one linguistic mediation but became fully-fledged participants who were given the floor to interpret, in the first person, delegates' statements into the other official language. As this activity took place within the framework of a conference, it naturally came to be known as conference interpreting.

Resumen: Este volumen recoge las conferencias pronunciadas en la Facultad e Traducción e Interpretación de la Universidad de Granada durante el curs académico 2000/2001. Las conferencias giraron en torno a la teoría de interpretación, prosiguiendo así la línea emprendida en el curso 1999/20C de organizar ciclos anuales sobre distintas temáticas o enfoques teóricos propíos de las áreas de conocimiento que conforman los estudios de traducción e interpretación. Del 19 al 21 de abril de 2001 tuvo lugar en Almuñécar el I Congreso Internacional sobre Evaluación de la Calidad en Interpretación de Conferencias. Este congreso consiguió aglutinar a relevantes investigadores y pn fesionales del ámbito de la interpretación, lo que llevó a la Facultad a organizar el ciclo de conferencias que aquí se presenta. Estas conferencia recogidas en libro, intentan ofrecer una visión general sobre los avances de la investigación en interpretación y ser un referente para futuras inve tigaciones. En nuestra Facultad la especialización en interpretación goza de ur larga tradición.

Resumen: En el panorama actual de los Estudios de Traducción se puede identificar una orientación hacia un mejor conocimiento de los procesos cognitivos propios de la traducción y la interpretación. Estas aproximaciones cognitivas suponen un intento de superar el modelo de caja negra con el fin de mejorar la descripción de dichos fenómenos, la calidad de la docencia y la idoneidad de los productos. La presente monografía da cuenta de los trabajos realizados y en curso por un grupo de profesores y alumnos de la Universidad de Granada, bajo el paraguas del programa de doctorado "Procesos de Traducción e Interpretación".
