Resumen: El objeto de este trabajo es contribuir a la delimitación de los conceptos de texto jurídico y traducción jurídica, y reflexionar sobre algunos mitos instalados en la cultura de la traducción jurídica, con especial énfasis en los problemas que acarrea la adopción de posturas rígidas y no siempre bien fundadas que conducen a traducciones superficiales y conspiran contra el rescate de las relaciones de sentido consagradas por una determinada cultura jurídica. A modo de ilustración, se analizan los problemas de la enumeración y de la disyunción en el lenguaje jurídico y en la traducción de textos de esta naturaleza.

Resumen: Individual chapters deal with legal english as a linguistic system, special concepts in the translation of english, and the genres of legal translation, from the courtroom to the popular novels. The authors also discuss a series of practical problems and proposed solutions. Originally written for work into Spanish, the book also glosses the main legal terms in French an German. Repetition of the terms and their various equivalents enables readers to build up their knowledge of the legal systems, without leaving behind the all- important constraints of genre and context.

Resumen: "El español jurídico" es continuación de "El inglés jurídico" y de "El inglés jurídico norteamericano. Éste no es ni pretende ser un libro de Derecho español, sino un estudio del lenguaje jurídico español, en especial de los términos jurídicos y los conceptos que éstos encierran, analizando desde la perspectiva de dos filólogos que tienen cierta experiencia en el campo de la traducción jurídica. Los autores han pretendido identificar, presentar e ilustrar, siempre desde una perspectiva lexicológica, sintáctica y estilística, los términos clave del español jurídico, acompañándolos de su correspondiente traducción al inglés y al francés.

Resumen: This paper aims to address, under China's policy of 'one country, two systems', the special style of the 'youthful' Chinese legal language in Hong Kong's legislation and the dilemmas faced by the general public and legal professionals in using it, to discuss key issues, and to suggest ways of solving its existing problems. It also offers new perspectives and solutions to some of the issues of this 'new' technical language that was originally a translation product. Since Chinese, along with English, became one of the two official legal languages of Hong Kong in 1997, legal Chinese has essentially consisted of 'translationese' derived from the translations on English common law and the bilingual legal drafting process in Hong Kong, with many novel coinages and a heavily Europeanized grammatical style.
