Resumen: What ever we may take as significant for the recent area of moderm society (one hesitates to call it the present state), most scholars seem to agree that we are forced ti distinguish more consequently betwen society and the nation state. Clasical modernization theory, following the pathbreaking works of Parsons, conceived society as a highly integrated, self- sufficient social system wich is by and large congruent with the nation state and its territory.
