Resumen: Este libro tiene su origenm en el Curso: "Estrategias en la traducción prefesional" con el objeto de acercar la realidad del mundo laboral a los estudiantes de Traducción. A lo largo de cuatro capítulos bien definidos, se propone una visión general de varios campos de la actividad del traductor, donde profesores y profesionales comentan sus experiencias. En la traducción literaria vemos diversos problemas que forjan al traductor como creador. Dentro de la traducción jurídica hay una orientación hacia la situación profesional en las Islas Canarias. La traducción científico-técnica se centra, sobre todo, en el mundo informático y se estudia la traducción audiovisual ya desde la disyuntiva cinematográfica entre subtitulado y doblaje, desde los "spots", hasta la música.
