Resumen: "Este volumen es un emprendimiento del Área de Traductología del Centro de Investigaciones de la Facultad de Lenguas de la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. Las contribuciones que en él se recogen fueron inicialmente comunicaciones realizadas durante las III Jornadas Internacionales de Traductología, celebradas en agosto de 2012 en la ciudad de Córdoba (Argentina). Los editores proponemos una mirada interdisciplinar de la Traductología, a partir de la convergencia de diferentes áreas del conocimiento, a la luz de una epistemología abierta, al decir de Edgar Morin. Con este volumen, hemos querido tributar el potencial de ocurrencia constelativa y solidaria del conocimiento, y aludir al carácter interdisciplinario constitutivo de diferentes lugares de enunciación, en el seno de la Traductología. La Primera Parte de este libro consta de trabajos que abordan la reflexión traductológica desde un enfoque (inter)cultural (...). Los escritos de la Segunda Parte ilustran los múltiples problemas lingüísticos, interpretativos, estéticos y aun institucionales que supone la traducción de obras literarias (...). La Tercera Parte reúne aportaciones empíricas al estudio cognitivo de la traducción (...)".

Resumen: Ubicar la actividad de la traducción en una de las dos categorías que se mencionan, como un arte o como una ciencia, implica entrar en un debate que apunta tanto a lo teórico como a lo metodológico. En el sentido griego de epistéme, la ciencia, aparece incluido el significado de arte o habilidad, por una parte; pero, por otra, "epistéme" se opone a "téchne", el arte en su acepción más generalizada, y también a "empeiría", la sabiduría adquirida por la experiencia.

Resumen: This paper addresses the problem of linguistic and cultural differences in literary translation, and more specifically in the translation of poetry. It examines a key concept in postmodernism: "the other", and its relationship with translation studies. This study aims to investigate the translation of the "other" in literature, and how this is assimilated/domesticated or made foreign/exotic in poetic translation. In other words, it probes the translation of ppoetry of SL-culture and TL-culture orientation. Toachieve this, various versions of Arabic translation of Shakespeare's sonnet 18 "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day" are examined. An analytical comparative method is used.

Resumen: Translation is to reproduce the meaning and style of a source language text in a target language text in consideration of the cultural differences. Because of dramatic differences between the cultures, translators have to sacrifice something, such as time, religious connotation, and the wording of the original poem to obtain its aesthetic value and its original beauty. In this paper the author examines the poetry translation focusing on the basic concepts of cultural translation and the difficulties of Chinese poetry translation, and special attentions are paid on losses and the strategies in the translation. Beginning from the basic concepts of cultural translation, the paper expounds the essence of the cultural translation in order to lay a sound foundation for the following analysis of the poetry translation. In Part 2, the paper points out the difficulties of Chinese poetry translation that arise from the differences between Chinese and English cultures .Part 3 is a tentative analysis of the losses in the English translation of Chinese poetry and categorizes the losses into four groups:the loss of time;the loss of religious connotation ;the loss in wording; the loss of allusion. To address the losses, the author proposes several strategies such as free translation , transfer of allusion and annotation.

Resumen: Written by some of the most distinguished literary translators working in English today, these essays offer new and uncommon insights into the understanding and craft of translation. The contributors not only describe the complexity of translating literature but also suggest the implications of the act of translation for critics, scholars, teachers, and students. The demands of translation, according to these writers, require both comprehensive scholarship in preparing to translate a text and broad creativity in recreating the text in a new language. Translation, thus, becomes a model for the most exacting reading and the most serious scholarship. Some of the contributors lay bare the rigorous methods of literary translation in comparisons of various translations of the same piece; some discuss the problems of translating a specific passage; others speak about the lessons learned over the course of a career in translation.
