Thus, it is not always possible to have a word for word equivalent, but concepts that must be interpreted; each of the more than 20 Spanish-speaking countries of the world, has its own vernacular and regionalisms- wich have to be identified and learned by the interpreter according to the geographical region in which he/she works; the southwestern states have a Spanish-speaking population that has developed its own terminology over the centuries since the Conquistadors, so "Chicano" or Mexican-American [MA] has been included when possible; street language and drug slang changes constantly, from city to city and neighborhood, but the words included herein have remained pretty constant over the last decade or two.
