Resumen: Dans l'histoire de la traduction en Chine, la période de la fin de la dynastie Ming et du début de la dynastie Qing est considérée comme une des quatre grandes périodes où abondent les activités de traduction. Cette période a surtout vu l'arrivée de nombreux jésuites de l'Occident et l'apparition de quantité de traductions scientifiques et technologiques qui couvraient un vaste champ de disciplines, ce qui l'a distinguée des trois autres périodes. Ces traductions ont résulté des facteurs économique, socio-culturel, psychologique, linguistique, etc. et ont à leur tour profondément marqué la société moderne chinoise. Étant donné l'importance des activités de traduction de cette époque-là pour l'Histoire chinoise, cet article essaie d'y jeter un coup d'oeil rétrospectif et d'en faire une brève présentation en dégageant les spécificités de ces activités, les raisons tant superficielles que profondes du boom de la traduction et les influences de cette dernière sur la société moderne chinoise.

Resumen: The issue related to professionals is an important one in the field of translation studies. Lefevere holds that professionals play an important part in the literary system and may ensure "the literary system does not fall too far out of step with the other subsystems society consists of". This article first explores Lefevere's use of the term "professionals" and then proposes to study professionals in a "literary translation system" instead of a literary system. The focus of this "literary translation system" is translators or translations, and it is a system in which various factors including translators, patrons, professionals, etc. interact with each other. Taking into consideration of the factors of economy and expertise, we can define a professional as someone who lives from certain special knowledge he/she has acquired. In the "literary translation system", a professional can be a university teacher, an editor, a critic, a reviewer, etc., who has acquired special knowledge of literary translation. The interaction between professionals and translators is also investigated through a case study of the debate over different Chinese versions of the French novel The Red and the Black.

Resumen: Considering the example of the translation of Njegos's The Mountain Wreath into the German language, the paper analyses the translational solutions that are dictated by the principles of the subject. The translator Alois Schmaus chose to take this step in order to bring home to the modern reader a world which appears to be archaic. He made this decision for two reasons. First, the German reader is unfamiliar with the historical context that is the subject of this poem; secondly the rules of prosody in Serbian and German do not match. By choosing to carry over the Serbian epic decasyllable, Schmaus favours the Serbian poetic tradition. From the historical point of view German verse, constructed as an Alexandrine, is burdened with the context of courtly poetics. The hexameter, meanwhile, which was introduced into German literature by Klopstock and later popularised by Voss and Goethe, appears in the context of the rise of the bourgeoisie. Both verses require changes while being translated, which affect the poem's characteristics. In order to maintain authenticity, Schmaus pleads for the "Serbian trochee": iamb and dactyl, metrical feet that are closer to the German language, would have impeded the setting the diaeresis and affected the syntax. Because of this, Schmaus places a spondee at the end of every verse and sets the historical context in the tradition of martyrdom.

Resumen: The study of the translation of humour in audiovisual texts remains an issue that demands further reflection and empirical findings. Progress in recent years has been remarkable, although the intrinsic complexity of this matter, so rooted in tangled dimensions such as the cultural one, makes it necessary to restate what has already been presented, and even to adopt additional perspectives. This article is based on that premise, and is an attempt to take a further step towards understanding the mechanisms which have the potential to activate humour not only within the community in which it was created, but also in the one to which it has been transferred through a translation process. The central idea of this contribution is the consideration, based on the audiovisual field, of jokes as prototypes; that is, as entities in most cases composed of different types of potentially humorous elements that combine together and feed back in order to produce the effect that their author intended: humour. As will be seen, it is a comprehensive approach, capable of responding to the functioning of humour in the different modes of audiovisual translation. Moreover, its potential and applicability can be transferred to other types of texts, such as oral and written. The discussion will be illustrated with some examples from the popular television series The Simpsons.

Resumen: Les technologies langagières font partie intégrante du paysage traductionnel depuis bon nombre d'années; elles ont indéniablement eu jusqu'ici un effet marqué sur l'exercice et l'enseignement de la traduction professionnelle. Or, parmi ces innovations technologiques, il y en a une faisant progressivement son apparition dans le secteur traductionnel et ayant le potentiel d'influencer considérablement le travail journalier des traducteurs professionnels dans un proche avenir : la reconnaissance vocale (RV). Le présent article aborde l'intérêt et les défis pédagogiques inhérents à l'intégration de la RV à la pratique traductive. D'abord, un bref exposé sur la RV et sur la place que lui accorde la traduction (dans la recherche, la pratique et l'enseignement) sera effectué, puis le concept de traduction dictée interactive (TDI) sera défini. La nature et les modalités de la traduction à vue (TAV) seront subséquemment décrites. Finalement sera justifiée l'intégration de la TDI à la formation des traducteurs professionnels.

Resumen: Cet article se propose d'identifier les textes et les domaines que les traducteurs professionnels espagnol-français et français-espagnol traduisent habituellement. Tout d'abord, nous examinons brièvement quelques travaux portant sur la traduction professionnelle ainsi que des études relatives à la traduction économique en espagnol et en français. Bien que ces travaux nous permettent de savoir, par exemple, quels documents ou domaines certains formateurs de traducteurs proposent à leurs étudiants de traduction économique, ou la place qu'occupe ce type de traduction aux côtés d'autres spécialités comme la traduction juridique, la traduction technique ou la traduction littéraire, ils ne nous permettent cependant pas de discerner la réalité professionnelle du marché espagnol. Après avoir présenté l'enquête que nous avons menée afin de connaître de plus près la réalité de la traduction économique en français et en espagnol, nous décrivons le profil des traducteurs ayant répondu à l'enquête pour identifier finalement les textes et les domaines le plus fréquemment traduits. Les résultats montrent des différences quant aux textes et aux domaines, et aussi quant aux combinaisons linguistiques. Ainsi, ces résultats pourront non seulement aider les formateurs de traducteurs économiques à concevoir leurs programmes ou modules spécialisés mais aussi à poursuivre la recherche sur l'analyse contrastive de genres textuels de l'économie

Resumen: With rich connotations and marked features, the translation theory of "Political Equivalence" has great significance in directing the standards, procedures and specific methods for diplomatic language translation. As a special form of discourse, diplomatic language is closely related to foreign policies and state interests, and has strong political inclination, thus inevitably concerning political issues. This paper, under the theoretical guidance of "Political Equivalence", advances the strategies for translating the Chinese diplomatic neologism Buzheteng used by Chinese President Hu Jintao at the conference celebrating the 30th anniversary of the reform and opening policy. Its purpose is to analyze the literal meaning, political context and connotations of the localism Buzheteng, and to conduct an analytical contrast of different translations. It also aims to provide a critical evaluation of the "Zero Translation" theory proposed by Zhu Chunshen and Zhang Junfeng from the City University of Hong Kong. The translation of Buzheteng illustrates that the "Political Equivalence" theory is one of the major criteria and principles gauging the translation of diplomatic languages.
