Resumen: Today, we constantly come across abbreviations of various types. They are used in all fields of documentation, information and communication, and are often in fact the decisive carriers of information. Anybody wanting to undestand a text and to participate in a discussion must know the meaning of these abbreviations. Unfortunately, however, it is finding the meaning that often proves very difficult , as available reference material is inadequate. Owing to the continuos increase of abbreviations all over the world, no one, at present, can be up to date in this field and be able to provide the proper answers.
