Resumen: Translation S- and T-universals have been widely discussed in Translation Studies and their psycholinguistic study has been among the priority topics today. The article is focused on the study of translation 'S- universals' (Chesterman 2004) and is based both on the psycholinguistic model of literary translation, which combines today's neuroscience theories of cognitivism and connectionism, and on the experimental data that demonstrate its validity. The model is resulted in a series of experiments held with undergraduate students of translation department. The results of the study proved the idea of existing specific procedural and discursive S-universals in literary translation. As the empirical data showed, these universals maintain the status of common strategies depending on translator's cognitive style (analytical or synthetic) and his dominant channel (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) of source text perception.

Resumen: The notion of systems has helped revolutionize translation studies since the 1970s. As a key part of many descriptive approaches, it has broken with the prescriptive focus on what translation should be, encouraging researchers to ask what translation does in specific cultural settings. From his privileged position as a direct participant in these developments, Theo Hermans explains how contemporary descriptive approaches came about, what the basic ideas were, and how those ideas have evolved over time. His discussion addresses the fundamental problems of translation norms, equivalence, polysystems and social systems, covering not only the work of Levý, Holmes, Even-Zohar, Toury, Lefevere, Lambert, Van Leuven-Zwart, Dhulst and others, but also giving special attention to recent contributions derived from Pierre Bourdieu and Niklas Luhmann. An added focus on practical questions of how to investigate translation (problems of definition, description, assessment of readerships, etc.)

Resumen: Le présent article fait état d'un aperçu de la réflexion, en matière de théorie de la traduction, d'un important groupe de professeurs d'universités espagnoles qui oeuvrent en traduction ou en traductologie. Dans les années 1990, une série d'ouvrages pionniers voient le jour et offrent une riche diversité de concepts sur la théorie de la traduction et sur son application didactique. Si, pour Lvóvskaya, il convient de mettre l'accent sur l'équivalence dans la communication bilingue, pour Elena, il s'agit plutôt d'appliquer à l'espagnol les théories allemandes du fonctionnalisme et du skopos. Tricás, quant à elle, développe l'application des théories de l'argumentation linguistique en traduction sur le plan textuel, tandis que Hurtado se centre sur un développement exhaustif de chacun des piliers de la traduction. Rabadán et Merino, de leur côté, centrent leurs travaux sur les Études descriptives de traduction (EDT). Par ailleurs, d'autres chercheurs suivent des orientations diverses : Vidal (déconstruction, manipulation, pouvoir), Carbonell (postcolonialisme), Corpas (corpus traductologiques), Muñoz (dimension cognitive), Ortega (herméneutique) et Mayoral (la traduction comme technologie)

Resumen: La Teoría de la Traducción es un campo de estudios complejo, actualmente amplio y de abordaje complejo -por el nivel de abstracción que requiere- especialmente para estudiantes que inician la carrera de grado de Traductorados. Teniendo a cargo esta materia en el Traductorado Público de Portugués, dictada en primer año, de la Universidad Nacional de Rosario, desde el año académico 2007, en todas las cohortes hemos podido constatar que los estudiantes tienen dificultades en cuanto a la retención, interrelación, aplicación y extensión de los distintos aspectos de los varios abordajes teóricos y los conceptos y categorías de los autores seleccionados, a las que se suma un conjunto de representaciones sociales con las que los estudiantes resuelven inicialmente su vocación y que es necesario desarticular para que puedan construir bases teóricas sólidas y puedan afrontar con criterio traductológico las materias de traducción.

Resumen: Les affinités sont étonnantes entre les constatations épistémologiques que la théorie du chaos a amené les sciences dites exactes à faire et une pensée de la traduction libérée d’une conception fixiste du sens. Penser la traduction en passant par la théorie du chaos, c’est surtout annuler les dichotomies inopérantes échues des conceptualisations traditionnelles, visée participant des discours de la « troisième voie ». Non-linéarité, sensibilité critique aux conditions initiales et géométrie fractale sont autant de thèmes qui potentialisent la théorisation de la traduction dans une épistémologie tablant sur la mouvance et la subjectivité des paramètres d’interprétation, sur l’instabilité persistante entre l’ordre et le désordre, sur la valeur heuristique donc positive du désordre et sur l’incomplétude.

Resumen: This volume addresses issues relating to AVT research and didactics. The first section is dedicated to theoretical aspects in order to stimulate further debate and encourage progress in research-informed teaching. The second section focuses on a less developed area of research in the field of AVT: its potential use in foreign language pedagogy. This collection of articles is intended to create a discourse on new directions in AVT and foreign language learning. The book begins with reflections on wider methodological issues, advances to a proposed model of analysis for colloquial speech, touches on more 'niche' aspects of AVT (e.g. surtitling), progresses to didactic applications in foreign language pedagogy and learning at both linguistic and cultural levels, and concludes with a practical proposal for the use of AVT in foreign language classes. An interview with a professional subtitler draws the volume to a close.
