Resumen: This paper is a fieldwork study framed in the community interpreting branch of Translation and Interpreting Studies, a current dealing with mediated interactions in Public Services. In accordance with the scope of this discipline, the following pages focus on highlighting the importance of pragmatic theories in an interlinguistic, triangular communication occurring within mental health consultations. The fundamental idea is to combine some of the most relevant pragmatic principles in order to establish an ideal communicative frame we can subsequently contrast with the reality of interlinguistic interactions in mental health settings. In consequence, the first part of the paper seeks to portray the importance of Pragmalinguistics in this context by providing a theoretical frame which is also used as the base for formulating certain questions that arise due to its implications for the interpreting process. These issues are the pillars for two brief questionnaires: the first one is addressed both to novice and experienced interpreters whereas the second set of questions was distributed among mental health professionals. The analysis of the survey results seeks to achieve three main objectives: i) to determine agreement and disagreement points between both parties; ii) to combine their opinions with the aforementioned theoretical bases in order to establish certain guidelines and solutions that may improve communication; iii) to define the interpreter's role within our field of study.

Resumen: Después de presentar las características de la producción de los textos meta en interpretación simultánea y consecutiva, se ofrece, en este artículo, una sinopsis de los estudios relacionados con los parámetros vocales manifestados en los textos meta simultáneamente interpretados. Se hará también referencia a aspectos fonológicos y metodológicos para, finalmente, extraer conclusiones no sólo para la didáctica de la interpretación y la vida profesional sino también para la investigación.

Resumen: Él articulo que se presenta a continuación pretende en primer lugar ilustrar brevemente el desarrollo de un curso de interpretación especializada tal y como se impartió en la Universidad de Vigo durante el segundo cuatrimestre del año 2004 en la combinación inglés-español. La descripción de los materiales utilizados no es exhaustiva, pues los temas tocados son solo un ejemplo de los muchos posibles. Si a nuestros estudiantes para reflejar las condiciones cambiantes del mercado. El elemento central del artículo, no obstante, será estudiar mediante una encuesta cual es percepción que los estudiantes tienen del curso que siguieron. Solo de este modo sabremos si cumplimos al menos uno de nuestros objetivos pedagógicos de una forma eficaz para desarrollar las destrezas de nuestros futuros intérpretes: el de que entiendan la complejidad que rodea el mundo de la interpretación de lenguas y multiplicidad de variables que intervienen en la consecución de un trabajo de calidad.

Resumen: À la différence de ce qui se passe en interprétation de conférence, l’interprétation en service public redistribue, par la simple présence physique des intervenants, les relations entre textes-source/textes-cible, entre messages émis/messages reçus, entre chacun des niveaux de la communication eux-mêmes. Ici, l’interprète est présent : on le voit, on l’entend et l’on guette les signaux non verbaux qu’il produit ou reproduit. C’est par l’intermédiaire de son corps, de son visage et de leurs expressions que s’établissent, de manière consciente ou inconsciente, les premiers degrés de la compréhension.

Resumen: Este manual de perfila como una tentativa de sistematización de una serie de apuntes procedentes de lecturas, aplicaciones didácticas y experiencias profesionales variadas,y se guía por el deseo de proporcionar a los alumnos de de la licenciatura de Traducción e Interpretación un soporte conceptual para una asignatura de contenido y metodología orientados claramente hacia la vertiente práctica, como es "Técnicas de interpretación consecutivas".El marco nocional sigue la evolución lógica del proceso de preparación llevado a cabo a través de clases prácticas en laboratorio y se refiere a los principales aspectos que cualquier acercamiento a este campo profesional debe incluir. La autora es licenciada en Filología Inglesaa e Hispánica por la Universidad de Bucarest. Su experiencia docente de varios años en el campo de la Interpretación Consecutiva en la Universidad de Alicante se complementa con el ejercicio de la profesión de intérprete desde 1989 en Rumania y en España, donde además ejerce como intérprete jurada desde 1995.

Resumen: Investigación sobre patrones de uso de las siglas y abreviaturas que se utilizan en inglés y que abarcan las ciencias relacionadas con la explotación petrolera; además de su respectiva comparación con las siglas del mismo dominio disciplinar en español con el fin de señalar convergencias y divergencias. La hipótesis de partida que formulamos en este proyecto es: no es posible establecer patrones de uso de las siglas en el ámbito de las ciencias relacionadas con la explotación petrolera. Consideramos que es probable que los usos de las distintas formas de abreviamiento respondan a factores circunstanciales y no a cánones preestablecidos.

Resumen: La necesidad del ser humano de comunicarse, la sensación de vivir en un modo cada vez más uniforme y la existencia de vías de comunicación cada vez más eficaces y rápidas impide con frecuencia ver otras realidades cercanas en las que la comunicación no es tan fácil ni tan efectiva ni cuenta con las mismas herramientas para llevarlas a cabo. El área de la Traducción e interpretación en los Servicios Públicos, o Interpretación para la Comunidad como lo denomina la autora del libro. Esta investigación esta coordinada por el grupo de investigación FITSPos (Formación e Investigación en Traducción e Interpretación en los Servicios Públicos), grupo dedicado a investigar y dar soluciones a la problemática de la problemática de la comunicación en sociedades multiculturales.

Resumen: El objetivo de este trabajo esw describir una experiencia en el Laboratorio de Interpretación cuando los alumnos practican interpretación consecutiva. El procesamiento de la información se encuentra muy ligado con las funciones cognitivas. Las capacidades mentales e intelectuales, junto con las habilidades lingüísticas, socioculturales y psicológicas, les permiten procesar la información de manera adecuada y producir una versión precisa en la lengua meta. Se ha podido observar que, cunado se capacita a los estudiantes para que reflexionen sobre su razonamiento (habilidad metacognitiva), su desempeño mejora.

Resumen: In most spiritual gatherings in Southwest Nigeria, as observed today, preaching is in English or in Yoruba and then interpreted in Yoruba or English. English is an official language in Nigeria and Yoruba is the local language in most of the Southwest of the country. Most people are to some extent bilingual. The objective of this study is to evaluate the quality of the interpretation carried out in those spiritual gatherings. Questionnaires were administered. Data were collated and analyzed. A total of 39 respondents (78 percent ) were satisfied with the output of the interpretation from English to Yoruba while only 48 percent were satisfied with the interpretation from Yoruba to English. The study concludes that interpretation from English to Yoruba is being handled better and more training be given to those interpreting from Yoruba to English.

Resumen: En este estudio se comparan los resultados obtenidos por un grupo de aprendices de interpretación en un test adaptado de retención auditiva de palabras (dimensión cognitiva), con los obtenidos por este mismo grupo en dos test de autoeficacia (dimensión de personalidad). El objetivo es evaluar el valor predictivo de estas pruebas con respecto a las puntuaciones obtenidas por los sujetos en una prueba de interpretación simultánea. El análisis de los datos nos lleva a la conclusión de que, al menos en una fase inicial de formación en interpretación simultánea, sólo los factores cognitivos (medidos aquí en términos de capacidad de retención auditiva de palabras) muestran una capacidad predictiva significativa y positiva de la calidad en la interpretación simultánea. A este respecto, los factores de personalidad (medidos aquí en términos de autoeficacia) ofrecen resultados contradictorios respecto a las expectativas o ninguna correlación significativa.

Resumen: La enseñanza de la interpretación de conferencias a distancia constituye una opción novedosa en nuestro país, abordada por nuestro equipo de trabajo con el objetivo de capacitar a futuros intérpretes dentro del marco de los parámetros internacionales de la Asociación Internacional de Intérpretes de Conferencia (AIIC) y los nacionales de la Asociación de Intérpretes de Conferencias de la Argentina (ADICA), y teniendo como base la teoría del sentido en materia de formación. Este trabajo tiene la intención de describir la experiencia desarrollada entre los años 2010 y 2015 y compartir las conclusiones a las que hemos llegado.

Resumen: En este artículo, se propone una reflexión socio-política sobre la interpretación mediante el análisis de las dinámica de confluencia y de confrontación que subyacen en este campo académico-profesional en torno al papel de la interpretación en nuestras sociedades multiculturales cada vez más globalizadas y polarizadas.

Resumen: Through a bibliometrical analysis of a database of quality articles in interpreting studies published between 2008 and 2012 in the 14 CSSCI and CORE journals that have published interpreting researches in China, this article describes the status quo of interpreting studies in China during the past five years, which provides latest information following up Wang & Mu (2009)'s survey about developments of the field from 1958 to 2007. A quantitative survey is conducted to reveal the annual production, the distribution of articles in different journals and active researchers of the field. More in-depth qualitative analysis is also done over the content and citation sources of the articles in order to examine distribution of research themes and topics, research methods and theoretical sources. It is found that the total publication of this period is comparable to 53.5 percent of the previous five decades. Their research themes range from interpreter training to theoretical issues, interpreting techniques and issues in practice, interpreting product, interpreting process and community, telephone and sign-language interpreting. Their research methods include theoretical conceptualization, literature analysis and reviews, theory-application analysis, summary and reflection of experiences, experimental studies, survey studies and observational studies. It is concluded from the bibliometrical analysis that new progress has been achieved in interpreting studies in China during the past five years, which is evident in more wide-ranging research themes and topics, more diversified theoretical sources and better utilization of methodology. The bibliometrical analysis also indicates the emergence of a new generation of researchers, who are expected to take interpreting studies to a new height with favorable institutional and academic environment in place in China.

Resumen: Recent research on liaison interpreting shows that the interpreters' role in communicative events includes language facilitator and intercultural mediator. Being empowered with more coordinating functions rather than regarded as invisible conduits, however, how do interpreters with different professional experiences perceive their own role in business settings? And what are the actual expectations on them from their clients? This paper tries to answer the questions through a questionnaire-based survey of three groups of respondents: professional interpreters, student interpreters and clients, with each group including 30 respondents. Chesterman's (2001) four models of ethics, together with the hypothetical no ethics model, were designed as answers to the questionnaire (17 closed questions) and translation versions to two interpreting samples. The frequencies of responses to the questions and the evaluation scores of the translation versions are collected and analyzed, revealing the following findings: All three groups acknowledge the constraints translation ethics place on the freedom of action; and all three groups agree that interpreters simultaneously shoulder the tasks of translating and coordinating, with the "ethics of communication" being the most widely acknowledged one. However, there are discrepancies between and within the groups, and even attitudinal inconsistencies and contradictions in individual participants. These findings, by re-describing the interpreter's power in interlingual and intercultural interactions, will help improve professional standards and interpreting training.

Resumen: A 2011 Gender Violence Macrosurvey carried out by the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS, Spanish Centre for Sociological Research) in collaboration with the Spanish Government alerts The Macro on Gender Violence conducted by the Sociological Research Centre (CIS) gives significant figures on gender-based violence (GBV) suffered by foreign women in Spain. Based on the specificity of care for foreign women in issues of gender based violence (GBV) and taking as its starting point previous investigations by FITISPOs, the recommendations and work carried out within the European project SOS VICS and my own experience, the main aim of this article is twofold: first, to draw attention to qualitative aspects of the interactions between service providers, interpreters and foreign victims of gender based violence ( GBV), and secondly, to, investigate what happens when some ethical dilemmas come up between the different professionals that take care of GBV.
