Resumen: Community interpreters tend to receive less training than interpreters in other fields. When they are trained, it is in interpreting techniques, but perhaps translation theory is what they really need to learn. This conference proceeding introduces how interpreters can apply lacunas, false friends, chaisse-croisés, and other translation devices to their interpreting.

Resumen: As in any field of specialization, simultaneous interpreting requires expertise which distinguishes the conference interpreters from other bilinguals. Involved in coordination and regulation of ongoing processing of information, working memory may be one of the factors that constitute the expertise of conference interpreters.
