Resumen: Dans le secteur médical plus que dans beaucoup d'autres secteurs scientifiques et techniques, les donneurs d'ouvrage exigent souvent que les traductions soient faites par des spécialistes, en l'occurrence des médecins, voire des médecins spécialistes qui si limiteraient à leurs propres spécialités ; les non-spécialistes, et a fortiori les non médecins sont jugés incapables de réaliser des traductions correctes.

Resumen: The British version of Jean de Brunhoff’s Histoire de Babar is a striking example of the transition from the present to the past tense in the translation of children’s texts into English. With reference to theories of narrative time, this paper invites speculation on the impact of such a tense shift on the present-tense qualities of the original, on the performance of a shared reading by child and adult and, finally, on the relevance of the young child’s developing understanding of the role of tense in narrative.

Resumen: Barton Health's goal for 2016: to provide interpreting services for its monthly support groups and community wellness lectures. The solution: remote interpreting. Since 1963, Barton Health, a community health system in California, has been committed to delivering exception health care. In an effort to adapt to the changing needs of patients, the hospital recently implemented a remote conference interpreting system, allowing experienced conference interpreters to interpret remotely for on-site meetings with non-English-speaking patients, for staff meetings with hospital leadership, and for other events. Patients listen through either their cell phones or wireless receivers that Barton Health makes available to them. What follows is the story of how the project came about, told from the perspectives of Barton's language access coordinator and one of the interpreters working remotely.

Resumen: Dans cette contribution, nous nous proposons de passer en revue les réflexions sur les techniques de traduction selon Marie de Gournay, telles qu’elle les exprime dans son traité Lettre à Monseigneur de Gelas, paru en 1626. Les réflexions de cette femme érudite, passionnantes à tout point de vue, sont peu connues, sinon oubliées, et donc loin d’être appréciées à leur juste valeur, en dépit des nombreuses recherches consacrées à ce sujet. Nous allons nous interroger sur ce qu’ont été les prémices de la traduction en France et sur l’apport fourni aux techniques de traduction par Marie de Gournay
