Resumen: Translation Studies presents an integrated concept based on the theory and practice of translation. The author adapts linguistic approaches and methods in such a way that they may be usefully employed in the theory, practice, and analysis of literary translation. The book is a contribution to the development of translation studies as a discipline in its own right.

Resumen: "Este volumen es un emprendimiento del Área de Traductología del Centro de Investigaciones de la Facultad de Lenguas de la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. Las contribuciones que en él se recogen fueron inicialmente comunicaciones realizadas durante las III Jornadas Internacionales de Traductología, celebradas en agosto de 2012 en la ciudad de Córdoba (Argentina). Los editores proponemos una mirada interdisciplinar de la Traductología, a partir de la convergencia de diferentes áreas del conocimiento, a la luz de una epistemología abierta, al decir de Edgar Morin. Con este volumen, hemos querido tributar el potencial de ocurrencia constelativa y solidaria del conocimiento, y aludir al carácter interdisciplinario constitutivo de diferentes lugares de enunciación, en el seno de la Traductología. La Primera Parte de este libro consta de trabajos que abordan la reflexión traductológica desde un enfoque (inter)cultural (...). Los escritos de la Segunda Parte ilustran los múltiples problemas lingüísticos, interpretativos, estéticos y aun institucionales que supone la traducción de obras literarias (...). La Tercera Parte reúne aportaciones empíricas al estudio cognitivo de la traducción (...)".

Resumen: El libro se asienta sobre dos claros principios. Resumen: El presente artículo propone un recorrido cronólogico desde su conceptualización como correspondencia biunívoca, absoluta y estática hasta que se superan las dicotomías y la equivalencia es entendida como una relación funcional, relativa y dinámica, una noción graduable entre dos extremos: un grado mínimo debajo del cual se ubican las inequivalencias y un grado máximo u óptimo que dependerá del objetivo de la traducción.

Resumen: The detachment of theory from practice has been criticized by translating practitioners; yet little improvement has been made. This book addresses the problem by reinvestigating the system of translation. Based on Daoist dialectics, the author introduces a dual system: translation theory and translating theory. The former concentrates on the abstract and macro aspects while the latter on the practical and micro ones. In professional translating, the depth of knowledge plays a crucial role. The book dedicates a whole chapter on their relationship. In order to demystify the black box of the translating process, a cognitive investigation is carried out. A paradigm called FAST (fluency, accuracy, speed and tradesmanship) is proposed for professional translating practice. The second half of the book tackles issues related to translating of technical and legal documents, as well as menus and poetry. The book is of an interdisciplinary nature, targeting readers who are interested in translation and translating, cognitive linguistics, formulaic language theory, communication studies, knowledge studies, experience and expertise studies, information theory, and intercultural studies.
