Resumen: El presente boletín contiene una lista de cargos y funciones existentes en la Secretaría de las Naciones Unidas, el ACNUR, el PNUD, el UNICEF, el UNITAR y la Corte Internacional de Justicia, tal como figuran en documentos sometidos al Departamento de Servicios de Conferencias para su traducción y sin que su inclusión implique un uso aceptado formalmente. Por razónes técnicas, el orden en que se han consignado los cargos y funciones es el siguiente: inglés, francés, ruso, español, chino y árabe.

Resumen: Based on an empirical study of categorisation and lexicalisation processes in a corpus of scientific publications on the life sciences, Rita Temmerman questions the validity of traditional terminology theory. Her findings are that the traditional approach impedes a pragmatic and realistic description of a large number of categories and terms. Inspired by the cognitive sciences, she develops an alternative. The main principles of this new theory imply: a combined semasiological and onomasiological perspective; only few categories can be clearly delineated; form and content of definitions vary according to category types and user's requirements; synonymy and polysemy are functional in special language and a diachronic approach is unavoidable. This last principle implies the varying importance of historical information in definitions, the non-arbitrariness of lexicalisation and the importance of cognitive models. In a last chapter the author shows how the methods and principles of the alternative approach are applicable in terminography and how this is going to have an impact on software for terminological database construction. This book will be valuable for specialists in terminology theory, practising terminographers and for anybody interested in special language, cognitive models and prototype theory.

Resumen: This bulletin gives a list in english, french, russian and spanish of titles of non-governmental organization in consultative status with the economic and social council. The main body of the bulletin is ararnged in englisch alphabetical order. The title of each organization is followed by an indication of its category: I, II, Roster A, B, or C, as indicated in document E/1985/INF/7. These categories were established under Economic and Social Council resolution 188 B.

Resumen: La primera parte contiene una lista de unidades monetarias básicas oficiales, junto con las abreviaturas pertinentes, ordenadas en orden alfabético por nombre de país. Los países enumerados son los Estados Miembros de las Naciones Unidas y las monedas enumeradas son las que circulaban oficialmente a marzo de 1993. La segunda sección contiene una lista en la que se menciona en primer término la unidad monetaria, seguida por el nombre del país o países en que está en circulación esta unidad.
