"I am pleased to present the Proceedings ofthe American Translators Association ́s 44th Annual Conference. This year's edition contains the work of many of our colleagues giving presentations at the conference in Phoemx, Arizona, November 5-8, 2003. These Proceedings enhance the actual conference presentations by providing additional information, serving as a research resource, and simply allowing those unable to attend a particular session or even the conference the opportunity to learn what was presented. Just as important, these Proceedings are an historical document offering a snapshot of the translation and interpreting professions in the United States at one point in time.
