"The contents are mainly based on general machine parts and mechanical terms. It was thought advisable, however, to add varieties of coal, iron and steel, and this led naturally to the inclusion of a wide selection of alloys, minerals and geological expressions. The dictionary also contains the usual chemical reagents and a number of scientific terms, particulary in connection with the treatment of metals. Car mechanism and cycle parts have likewise been brought into the scope of the work, while finally the mathematical words, units of measurement, numerals, tools, drawing instruments, wood and timber trees are additions which should render it of still greater interest".
