In preparing this "Glossary", the IMF Terminology Working Group thoroughly reviewed the whole " IMF terminology database", which currently contains approximately 80.000 terms. This sixth revised edition of the "IMF Glossary" contains some 5900 records, which are believed to be the most useful to translators dealing with IMF material. The main body of the "Glossary" consists of words, phrases and institutional titles commonly encountered in IMF documents in areas such as money and banking, public finance, balance of payments, and economic growth. A number of entries are followed by a "usage" field, indicated in square brackets[], denoting the origin of the term [OECD] or a context [trade]. Cross references see also_are listed following the usage field. A list of origin codes may found on the following page. Cross references [see] do not contain the target language renditions but point to the main entry containing the term. Terms relating to IMF organization, structure and senior staff titles are included in the body of the "Glossary". In Appendices I and II, color-coded French and Spanish indexes are provided for the convenience of users who work from these languages.Currency Unites of the various countries and areas contained in Appendix III. An "IMF Organizational Chart" is found as Appendix IV in all languages. This edition contains a desktop published selection of terms automatically retrieved from the IMF computerized terminology database by the Reference. Terminology and Documentation staff. Owing to its automated production process, there may be some deviation from traditional dictionary alphabetical order.
