As Adobe Portable. Document Format (PDF) files become increasingly widespread for various forms of documentation and easier to generate, translators and agencies are regularly asked -and sometimes expected- to handle PDF source files. Before examining why such requests can be problematic, it would probably be useful to explain why PDF's are so popular.
