Today, the translator himself/herself has become the focus of the translation study. The translator and writer Pearl S. Buck was called "a bridge between the civilization of the East and West" by President Nixon. However, her translation of the Chinese clasical novel Shuihuzhua, under the title "All Men Are Brothers" has been criticized as too literal and inaccurate. This paper is intended to defend her translation with both quantitative and qualitative analysis, both library study and field work.
